Fabric Magic is a more than a shop – it’s a place to have fun and be inspired.
We believe that some things are best experienced. When you come to our shop you can look, feel and experiment with our incredible range of fabrics, wools and haberdashery. At Fabric Magic, we pride ourselves on being one of the South West’s leading independent fabric stockists with over two thousand rolls of different materials, including a diverse range of curtain fabrics, twelve thousand balls of knitting yarn – and that’s not mentioning the hundreds of haberdashery products we sell.
Our team of fifteen staff are all experienced and passionate about fabric crafts. Whether it is dressmaking, sewing, knitting, crochet, patchwork, home furnishing or upcycling, we are certain that we can offer you exceptional personal service and all the expertise to help your creation turn out brilliantly!
Our products and our passions
Our original focus was dressmaking, and we have stayed loyal to our roots by stocking an exciting selection of natural and synthetic fabrics in a variety of weights and prints to suit all projects – from sundresses to evening gowns, tailored suits and fancy dress costumes. We also boast a beautiful range of cotton prints that are ideal for patchwork, garments and accessories alike.
Fabric Magic’s extensive haberdashery product range caters for all needs; we stock ribbons, trims, buttons, zips, bag handles, beads and sequins alongside all the usual must-have threads, pins, needles, scissors and seam rippers. To save you time we keep the latest dressmaking patterns in stock, including Simplicity, New Look, Butterick, Vogue and Burda. (We can also order McCalls patterns.)
In our first floor knitting department we stock a selection of well-known knitting and crochet yarn brands such as Sirdar, James C Brett, Katia, Woolcraft, Hayfield and Jenny Watson. There are also hundreds of pattern leaflets and booklets for you to peruse in addition to all the knitting needles, crochet hooks and accessories you could possibly ever wish for!
In our new extended soft furnishings department we now have a fantastic range of curtain fabrics. Samples are available for you to take home and try if you are unsure and we offer an affordable curtain making service. We are also keen to help you make your own through offering you tips, demonstrations or workshops. Readymade curtains can be ordered into the shop in just a few days.
Serving the South West for over 10 years
Fabric Magic is a trusted and established local business that first opened its doors in 2002. The company’s director, Liz, first started trading as the sole staff member with just 100 rolls of fabric, a few balls of wool and a small range of haberdashery. From humble beginnings, we have gone from strength to strength, expanding twice into larger premises, running craft workshops and sewing classes and vastly increasing our range of products.
Today, we are proud to have one of the finest selections of fabric craft products in the South West. In 2013 we opened our dedicated knitting yarn department on the first floor of our store. In it you will find over 140 different qualities from lace weight up to super-chunky and in a wide variety of fibres, including pure merino, 100% cotton, and a wealth of gorgeous mixes. Since 2014 we have stocked an extensive range of home décor fabrics and curtain materials – letting you transform both your home and your wardrobe!
Buy online with confidence
Our online shop is continually growing – and what you can see online showcases only a little of our entire range. Over time, more of our products will be added to the online catalogue and we are always happy to send samples of anything you see.
If you don’t see what you are looking for then give us a ring and we will make sure that you find the perfect product.
Expand your craft skills and knowledge with a workshop.
Since 2011 we have offered a comprehensive selection of creative workshops.
You can find out more information via our workshops page.
All of the workshops are held in a relaxed atmosphere (with plenty of tea and coffee!). The classes also all have limited numbers (groups of up to eight) to ensure that everyone receives adequate individual training and support.
